Regenulfa aside from being an obscure 7th Century saint in medieval France is a character in A Dancer in the Infinite. According to the story she fled to the forest prior to her wedding and lived among the wildlife, healing the sick and calling springs from the ground with the touch of her hand. I've taken the liberty with my literary license of moving her about a hundred miles to a more convenient locale for my story. She's Merovengian and like all of her people is believed to have talked to animals and have a divine healing touch. The above metal plaque is at the British Museum in London.
